(29 August 2013) ------ As a caring and responsible corporate citizen, Luk Fook Holdings (International) Limited (“Lukfook” / the “Group”) (Stock Code: 00590) has a long-term commitment to the communities that it serves. Over the years, the Group has actively supported a variety of charity and community programmes, and it continues to work hand in hand with its staff to make meaningful contributions to society. Recently, the Group supported “Food Angel”, a local charity, by donating 300kg of rice to its food rescue and assistance programme. Even more, the Lukfook Volunteer Team also helped preparing and distributing the meal boxes to the needy. Over 6,000 people benefited in this event.

Mr. Wong Wai Sheung, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Group said, “According to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service research, the number of people living in poverty increased slightly last year to more than 1.16million. Coupled with the inflation, it is very hard to satisfy the basic needs for the grassroots. As a result, the Group initiated this food donation and our Lukfook Volunteer Team has joined “Food Angel” to visit the elderly at HKLSS Harmony Garden Lutheran Centre, one of the beneficiaries. We hope to show our love and care to the elderly, besides providing the support in kind.”

“Food Angel” is a food rescue and assistance programme organized by Bo Charity Foundation Limited. The programme collects food from all segments of the food industry as well as accept the corporation donation, then prepare healthy nutritional meal boxes in their own professional kitchen, distribute the meal boxes to individuals and families in need for free.
